Types of Treatments
After the needles are placed in the body, specific meridian points are selected to be attached to a device that sends continual electrical pulses. These treatments are commonly used to relieve pain and regulate the stagnation of qi and blood.
Fire is placed inside hollowed-out glass balls that are placed over each meridian. The cup will not burn the skin, but will act as a vacuum that reduces the amount of oxygen. The lack of oxygen draws the skin upward and towards the inside of the glass cup. This process results in the opening of the pores, which then aids in blood circulation, detoxification, and reduction of pain for muscle spasms.
During this treatment, a ginger slice or special salt, depending on the condition, is placed on specific areas of the body. On either the ginger slice or special salt, mugwort, a small, spongy herb, is burned to strengthen the blood, regulate the flow of qi, and maintain general health.
After the needles are placed in the body, patients are exposed to the infrared light for approximately 30 minutes. This treatment is considered to be very effective in skin care, wound healing, and pain relief for conditions such as arthritis, fibromyalgia, sprains, headaches, diabetic ulcers, neuralgia, bursitis, sinusitis, tennis elbow, TMJ, carpal tunnel, inflammation, edema.
Tuina is facial rejuvenation acupressure to reduce wrinkles and facial pain due to conditions such as sinusitis. This treatment is done for patients who prefer not to be exposed to needles. A combination of massage, acupressure and other forms of body manipulation work together by applying pressure to acu-points, meridians and groups of muscles or nerves to remove blockages that prevent the free flow of qi. Removing these blockages restores the balance of qi in the body, leading to improved health and vitality.
What to Expect
First we will meet with you to determine your particular needs. We will review your medical history and discuss what you want to achieve with each treatment. Treatment frequency is determined on an individual basis, as each patient has different needs.
The procedure itself is painless. Tiny, hair-thin needles are placed on the body to balance your natural energy. Depending on your treatment, the needles are left on the body for 10 to 30 minutes.
